Marine Single Sideband
Communication systems for commercial and recreational vessels
Marine Single Sideband was formed in 2004 to fill a serious need in the Middle Peninsula/Hampton Roads boating community for specialized services relating to marine communications and corrosion protection.
Our Senior Technician is Chuck Teclaw, who has more than half a century experience in establishing communications links, often under adverse conditions. He has been an active radio amateur since 1951 (currently NT3G), and has taught electronics and worked as a field engineer. He holds an FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL) with Ship Radar Endorsement.
Chuck usually cruises in the Chesapeake, but he has also tasted some of the joys of extended cruising, having been a liveaboard with his family for a year while traveling the ICW and cruising in the Bahamas on his Tartan 34C sloop, S/V Sans Serif.
While our services are generally performed on your vessel, we also maintain a well-equipped laboratory with the capability to verify performance specifications for most marine communications equipment.
